From 1980 to 1994, artist Penny Slinger lived in the Carribbean and was deeply influenced by the local culture... ancient and modern. She did extensive work on paintings of the extinct Arawak people- the original inhabitants of the Caribbean. Her work featuring the present day inhabitants and modern culture of the Caribbean is featured in the Island Art gallery.
