One of the 64 Dakini series, Transformi is the dakini of metamorphosis.
When I studied biology, I was fascinated by the life cycle of the butterfly – that sequence of images showing how the caterpillar builds its cocoon, turns into a chrysalis and completely transmutes to emerge as a butterfly. This image is about the nature of change, on a molecular level. Being prepared to completely melt down and build oneself anew, in a new images of oneself. The model was a natural yogini, the image also expressing the transformative power of the yogic arts.
lThe transient nature of all things, as the play of light on the wings of a butterfly. We see beauty in the butterfly, but how do we view the caterpillar? When we see the insect world in close up, they really are all extraordinary beings.
